Hank Hofford - Biography
JOHN HOFFORD "Hank" - is an entrepreneur, father of three, and seasoned visionary. Hank Graduated from Clemson University in 1976 and started his career in the construction business shortly thereafter. In 1983, Hank and his partner Michael Bennett merged their respective construction companies to form Bennett Hofford Company, Inc. With Hofford as President, Bennett Hofford Construction Company began its tradition of building high-end, custom residential homes. Since then, Bennett Hofford has built well over 200 of the highest quality homes and neighborhoods along the coast of South Carolina. In 1990 Bennett Hofford received the Honor Award from the American Institute of Architects, and in 1993 the company achieved the Grand Award from Builders Magazine.
Hank is an active member in the Charleston area community, he has been a member of Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church for over 20 years, he serves as the Chairman of the Board for the SC Maritime Heritage Foundation, and he is an Eagle Scout. Hank is currently a partner of Hotel Development Company, the Holy City Hospitality Restaurant Group, and several 1000+ acre developments in the Charleston area. In recent times, Bennett Hofford is leading the development of Poplar Grove, a conservation community in Charleston, S.C. situated on 6,000 acres of marshland, woods, canals, ponds, open waterways, and nature trails. In 2007, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development selected Bennett Hofford to build the nation’s second PATH Concept Home at Poplar Grove.
Most recently, Hank has become a co-founder of Energy City, a Charleston based energy company with the vision to power prosperity by creating energy related jobs to diversify and grow South Carolina's Economy.
